CD/DVD Printer
If you make a lot of your own music CDs or CDs filled with pictures or even DVD movies, consider a CD/DVD printer to create a custom finished look, similar to what you might find in something you buy in the store. With CD/DVD printers, this type of equipment uses a thermal or inkjet technology to produce a color printing right on your disk. Whether it is a called a CD printer or DVD printer or the combo CD/DVD printer, they all accomplish the same thing. With CD printers or DVD printers that use the inkjet technology, you will notice the vibrant colorful artwork. However in testing against their thermal counter parts, the thermal will last longer unless you create a veneer for your inkjet printed disk by sealing it with a clear lacquer. There are special lacquers you can find in spray cans or if you plan to make a habit of creating your own disks, you might want to purchase a special disk coating machine. |

The reason why the thermal CD/DVD printer lasts longer and is more durable is because instead of droplets of ink used, there is a colored ribbon which is heated and melted onto the surface. While not always as vibrant as the inkjet, it is a longer-lasting option.
The great thing about the CD/DVD printer is that they are more affordable than ever. The best CD printers are those with the most outstanding technology that you can afford. You can find cheap CD/DVD printers at a variety of places like clearance sales at electronics retailers, on the internet or direct from a particular manufacturer or reseller. There are graduated models and of course, the more bells and whistles there are, the more the CD/DVD printer will cost. There is another option but it is a little more pricy. There are CD/DVD printers which put a final lamination coat on the CD automatically. They may take a little longer to complete a finished copy, but this type of CD/DVD printer produces artwork for the disk that is virtually smear proof and waterproof. It will last for years … always a good goal for any project! |
