Flexographic Printer
A flexographic printer is a piece of equipment that is often used to print images, pictures and text on packaging of different types of goods. Flexographic printers do their job by fashioning a mirror image of the image or text that is to be imprinted on the packaging. The template of your image is in 3D and made of a rubber type of material or something similar. What happens with printer that is flexographic is that a certain amount of ink is put on the rubberized template using a special type of rolling mechanism. The rubberized template moves around so that the ink can be transferred onto the template completely. There are special types of the flexographic printer for different things like the pcmd flexographic printers or the flexographic printers for diapers. That one is more specialized because of the special materials that are used in making diapers. Originally, the flexographic printer was created to print on corrugated cardboard surfaces. It was a ripply, uneven surface so that require a material that could bend and get into the uneven grooves and deposit inks and print evenly. In addition, there could not be any leftover ink that could smear or be deposited on a portion of the surface that should not have it. |

It has only been in the last thirty to forty years that the flexographic printer has made great strides in the quality of printing it produces. That is why you can find a cheap flexographic printer these days. They could be a holdover to older technology. Of course, you could probably find one from a corporation going out of business too. A used flexographic printer is great for a company just getting its feet wet with this type of printing.
Today, you will find that the materials used to create the 3D images for imprinting have gotten better and the use of lasers are often used to create the image for a more precise, clean look. Some of these images rival other technologies like lithography. These are the best flexographic printers around that use this type of technology. |
